Palembang Keramasan Toll Gate

Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the Kayu Agung-Palembang-Betung section of the Kayu Agung-Palembang toll road, Tuesday (26/01/2021). The inauguration was held at the Kramasan Toll Gate, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatra (Sumsel).

"Thank God, the 42.5 kilometer Kayu Agung-Palembang toll road has been completed, is complete and ready to be used today," said the President when giving his speech.

The President said that this toll road is the most important axis of the Trans Sumatra toll road and is the main axis of southern Sumatra, as the last section connecting Bakauheni Port, Lampung with Palembang, South Sumatra.

With the completion and operation of this toll road, the travel time for Bakauheni Port - Palembang will be reduced by 373 kilometers.

"I heard that it usually takes 12 hours by road, now it only takes 3-3.5 hours. "This will be a big leap because it saves travel time by up to 75 percent," he said.

Ferry Ship. Bakauheni Harbor - Merak Harbor

The history of ferries apparently originates from the city of Liverpool in England, because there is the oldest ferry service in the world that is still operating today, known as the 'Mersey Ferry'. The name of the ferry was also apparently taken from a royal charter which gave the ship operational rights. The charter given by King Edward III in 1330 read "Granting the right of ferry there...for men, horses and goods, with leave to charge reasonable tolls" which translates as "Granting the right to ride the Ferry there for men, horses, and goods, with permission to charge a reasonable toll.” Since then, 'ferry' has become a term for transport ships and crossing vessels.

In Indonesia, ferries have several crossing services, such as in the Sunda Strait between Merak Harbor, Banten and , Lampung, crossings in the Bali Strait between Ketapang, East Java and Gilimanuk, Bali and so on.

Rawa Buntu Station

Rawabuntu Station was opened on October 1 1899 by the State Railway Company, Staatssporwegen (SS) at the same time as the inauguration of the Duri-Rangkasbitung route. This 76 km long track was built using a track width of 1067 mm. Previously, in the same year, on January 2 to be precise, the 23 km Batavia-Duri-Tangerang route was inaugurated. Then it was continued to Serang and Anyer in 1900.

The existence of the Jakarta-Duri-Rawabuntu-Anyer railway line makes passenger transportation and goods transportation easier. Imported goods from abroad are brought from the port of Batavia for further distribution to Banten. On the other hand, Banten's inland commodity products are transported to the port in Batavia. Banten residents have an average livelihood as farmers. The plantation product that has important meaning is coconut. European plantations were limited to rubber (hevea) found in southern Banten.

One of the problems in the development of the Jabotabek area (Jakarta-Bogor-Tangerang-Bekasi) in 1976 was the community's needs in the field of public transportation. To overcome this, the government through the Department of Transportation is collaborating with the Japanese Government to improve the function of trains in Jabotabek. The 23.3 km Serpong route from Tanah Abang-Sudimara-Serpong is also part of the Jabotabek railway project. One important thing is the electrification of the Serpong route which passes through Rawabuntu Station.

Halim High Speed Train Station

On October 16 2015, a consortium of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), which formed PT Pilar Sinergi BUMN Indonesia (PSBI), and a consortium of Chinese railway companies, through Beijing Yawan HSR Co. Ltd formed a joint venture company called PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC).

In this case, KCIC is the operator of the Whoosh Fast Train, previously known as the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train (KCJB). It is hoped that the presence of the Whoosh Fast Train will be able to solve various national problems, one of which is overcoming the density of the Jakarta-Bandung transportation flow which has been dependent on the Cipularang (Cikampek-Purwakarta-Padalarang) and Padaleunyi (Padalarang-Cileunyi) toll roads. Apart from that, the Whoosh Fast Train is also the answer to building connectivity between cities and between regions for regional and national economic growth.

Whoosh was designated as one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) in Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 3 of 2016. In its development, KCIC operated without financial assistance from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) or guarantees from the Indonesian Government. The construction of the Whoosh High Speed Train project was obtained from China Development Bank loan funds (75%). Meanwhile, 25% is shareholder capital, namely a combination of PT Pilar Sinergi BUMN Indonesia (PSBI) (60%) and Beijing Yawan HSR Co. Ltd. (40%).

The composition of PSBI shareholders is PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) 51.37%, PT Wijaya Karya (Persero) Tbk 39.12%, PT Perkebunan Nusantara VIII 8.30%, and PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk 1.21% . The composition of shareholders of Beijing Yawan HSR Co. Ltd, namely CREC 42.88%, Sinohydro 30%, CRRC 12%, CRSC 10.12%, and CRIC 5%.

On October 2 2023, the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo inaugurated the first fast train in Indonesia and Southeast Asia at Halim Station, Jakarta. This inauguration marks the end of all construction of the high-speed train project in Indonesia and introduces a new name for the High-Speed Train in Indonesia, namely Whoosh (Saving Time, Optimal Operation and Great System).

After being inaugurated, the Whoosh Fast Train still offers free travel to the public entitled the Whoosh Experience Program. The aim is to introduce the services and rules that apply to transportation in Indonesia. Then on October 17 2023, commercial operation of the Whoosh Fast Train officially began where the inauguration was carried out by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and the President of the PRC Xi Jinping in Beijing, PRC.

Senayan Park

Taman Ria Senayan was one of the most popular recreation areas in Jakarta at that time. Built in 1972 and opened in 1997, this area was very famous as a gathering place for Jakarta teenagers and young professional groups. Its strategic location in the city center and the presence of a natural lake make Taman Ria Senayan have its own charm. Now, Ria Senayan Park has been revived through the prestigious Senayan Park project which is located next to the DPR/MPR people's representative building. This project was built with a similar concept, and was developed as an entertainment, retail export and recreation center.

The initial condition of Ria Senayan Park, which was abandoned in 2008, made the site lose its prestige and become unkempt. Even though the location is so strategic and has so much historical value attached to it, the developer finally agreed to rebuild this area with the same spirit through environmentally friendly architectural buildings, in order to preserve the ecosystem, maintain the condition of the existing site, and combine social and economic functions with better.

Istiqlal Mosque

After Indonesia's independence in 1945, the big dream of building a mosque that could become a place of pride for Jakarta residents as well as a place for worship had settled in the hearts of Indonesian citizens. KH. Wahid Hasyim, the first Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia and several Ulama proposed to build a mosque that could become a symbol for Indonesia. In 1953, KH. Wahid Hasyim, as the first Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia together with H. Agus Salim, Anwar Tjokroaminoto and Ir. Sofwan and assisted by around 200 Islamic figures led by KH. Taufiqorrahman proposed to establish a foundation. On December 7 1954, the Istiqlal Mosque foundation was founded, chaired by H. Tjokroaminoto, to realize the idea of building a national mosque.

Starbucks

Our story begins in 1971 along the cobblestone streets of Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market. It was here where Starbucks opened its first store, offering fresh-roasted coffee beans, tea and spices from around the world for our customers to take home. Our name was inspired by the classic tale, “Moby-Dick,” evoking the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders.

Ten years later, a young New Yorker named Howard Schultz would walk through these doors and become captivated with Starbucks coffee from his first sip. After joining the company in 1982, a different cobblestone road would lead him to another discovery. It was on a trip to Milan in 1983 that Howard first experienced Italy’s coffeehouses, and he returned to Seattle inspired to bring the warmth and artistry of its coffee culture to Starbucks. By 1987, we swapped our brown aprons for green ones and embarked on our next chapter as a coffeehouse.

Starbucks would soon expand to Chicago and Vancouver, Canada and then on to California, Washington, D.C. and New York. By 1996, we would cross the Pacific to open our first store in Japan, followed by Europe in 1998 and China in 1999. Over the next two decades, we would grow to welcome millions of customers each week and become a part of the fabric of tens of thousands of neighborhoods all around the world. In everything we do, we are always dedicated to Our Mission: With every cup, with every conversation, with every community - we nurture the limitless possibilities of human connection.

North Jakarta

The North Jakarta region, which is part of the Special Capital City of Jakarta regional government, apparently in the 5th century was actually the center of growth of the Jakarta city government, which was precisely located at the mouth of the Ciliwung river in the Angke area. At that time, the Ciliwung estuary was the port city of the Tarumanegara Kingdom under the leadership of King Purnawarman. How important the North Jakarta area was at that time can be seen from the successive struggles between various parties, the legacy of which can now be found in several places in North Jakarta, such as Tugu Village, Fish Market and so on.
